Among the European funds are the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI), which provide the most resources, the European Cohesion Funds and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">European Funds are used in areas such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Research and innovation<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Digital technologies<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Low-carbon economy<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sustainable management of natural resources<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Small business support.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The general objective of the European funds is to transform the economy to make it more sustainable, digital and cohesive. Furthermore, from the year 2020 onwards, there were created<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/es\/policies\/the-eu-budget\/long-term-eu-budget-2021-2027\/\">European programmes<\/a><\/strong> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Recovery and Resilience Facility to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/strategy\/recovery-plan-europe_es\"><strong>These programmes are run using Next Generation Funds<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Spain, <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the management of the ESI Funds and the Next Generation Funds is the responsibility of<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hacienda.gob.es\/es-ES\/Areas%20Tematicas\/Fondos%20de%20la%20Union%20Europea\/Paginas\/default.aspx\">Ministry of Finance and Civil Service<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What are the Next Generation Funds?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The <\/strong><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/europa.eu\/next-generation-eu\/index_es\"><strong>Next Generation funds<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, along with the Multiannual Financial Framework, are the <strong>financial instruments to support the economic and social recovery from the effects caused by the COVID-19 pandemic<\/strong>. The Next Generation EU funds have 750,000 million euros to be allocated between 2021 and 2027. These European funds are applied to objectives related to sustainability, the implementation of renewable energies, energy retrofitting, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>In Spain, the activities financed by European funds are those that guarantee compliance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/planderecuperacion.gob.es\/\">Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR)<\/a> approved in 2021<\/strong>. For aspects related to energy rehabilitation, it is the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the IDAE, that announces, coordinates and monitors rehabilitation grants, which are managed by the Autonomous Communities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter wp-image-20634\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"811\" height=\"507\" src=\"https:\/\/evalore.reload.es\/app\/uploads\/2024\/01\/NEXTG_5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20634\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Source: Photo by @peterbeukema on Unsplash. Edited by EVALORE.<\/span><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What are the energy renovation grants funded by the Next Generation EU funds?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Current grants and subsidies as of March 2022<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idae.es\/ayudas-y-financiacion\/para-la-rehabilitacion-de-edificios\/programa-pree-5000-rehabilitacion\"><strong>PREE 5000 Programme<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is an energy rehabilitation programme and <strong>reduction in final energy consumption and CO2 emissions<\/strong> in the building stock in municipalities facing demographic challenges. It encompasses actions ranging from<strong> changes to the thermal envelope, the replacement of thermal generation installations and the improvement in lighting energy efficiency<\/strong>. It is intended for individuals or legal entities, owners' associations, groups of owners, businesses, and local authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Public building refurbishment promotion programme<a href=\"https:\/\/sede.mitma.gob.es\/SEDE_ELECTRONICA\/LANG_CASTELLANO\/OFICINAS_SECTORIALES\/SUB_PRTR\/PIREP_LOCAL\/default.htm\">PIREP<\/a>)<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mitma.gob.es\/ministerio\/proyectos-singulares\/prtr\/agenda_urbana_y_vivienda\/faqs\/consultas-pirep-local\">Programme<\/a><\/strong> It aims to promote the sustainable refurbishment of public and institutional buildings for all types of public-use facilities: administrative, educational, care, sports, healthcare, cultural or public service buildings, etc. The projects to be funded must reduce non-renewable primary energy consumption by at least 30%. The aim is to provide funding for two categories of buildings:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Line 1. For buildings to be refurbished whose work is officially received no later than 30 September 2024<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Line 2. For buildings to be rehabilitated whose work reception takes place no later than 31 March 2026<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">According to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/boe\/dias\/2022\/03\/11\/pdfs\/BOE-A-2022-3851.pdf\">Official Gazette<\/a><\/strong>, the deadline for applying for the grants from 11 March is:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Forty-five calendar days for the Line 1 works<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ninety calendar days for the Line 2 works<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Grants pending renewal for 2022<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idae.es\/ayudas-y-financiacion\/para-la-rehabilitacion-de-edificios\/convocatorias-cerradas\/programa-pree\"><strong>PREE Programme<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is an energy rehabilitation programme aimed at reducing final energy consumption and CO2 emissions in existing buildings. It had a budget of 402,500,000 euros and remained in force until 31 July 2021. Just like the PREE 5000 Programme, <strong>subsidies are provided for measures to change the thermal envelope, replace thermal generation installations, and improve energy efficiency in lighting<\/strong>. It was aimed at natural or legal persons, owners' associations, groups of owners, businesses and local authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>EVALORE already has success stories from this programme!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Grants awaiting their launch in 2022<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Rehabilitation programme for economic and social recovery in residential environments<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is a programme belonging to the Recovery Plan. Its objective is to achieve more than 510,000 housing renovation actions by 2026. This programme includes six grant subprogrammes:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The renovation of housing and regeneration of public spaces in neighbourhoods with transformation needs<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Support for the rehabilitation offices<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Building refurbishment<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Improving the energy efficiency of homes<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The drafting of refurbishment projects and the preparation of the Existing Building Book (LEE)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The promotion of social rental housing in energy-efficient buildings.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Aid prior to the Next Generation Funds aid framework<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>PAREER II Programmes<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This was the second call for applications under the grant scheme for the energy-efficiency refurbishment of existing residential buildings. It remained in force until 2018. Under this grant scheme, a non-repayable grant was awarded amounting to between 20% and 30% of the eligible cost, supplemented by a repayable loan at Euribor + 0%, with a maximum repayment term of 12 years, including a 1-year grace period.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>PAREER-CRECE schemes<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This was the first round of the grant scheme for the energy-efficiency refurbishment of existing buildings. It remained in force until 2016. Under this grant scheme, a non-repayable sum of between 20% and 30% of the eligible cost was awarded, supplemented by a repayable loan at Euribor + 0%, with a maximum repayment term of 12 years and a 1-year grace period. Edited by EVALORE.<\/span><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>\u00bf<strong>How can you apply for the energy efficiency grants from the Next Generation EU Funds?<\/strong><\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Each energy rehabilitation aid programme has a number of steps for the applicant to follow. In this regard and in general terms, <strong>the steps are as follows<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The person, community, legal representative or rehabilitation agent must <strong>collect the identity and project information documents<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They must be<strong> draft descriptive reports for both the project and the energy savings resulting from the refurbishment<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">One must <strong>calculate the amount of financial assistance to be requested<\/strong>.
